About Us
PrioNet aims to develop strategies to mitigate, and ultimately eradicate, prion diseases.
PrioNet is made possible through funding from the Networks of Centres of Excellence Canada (NCE) program, a joint initiative of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and Industry Canada. The NCE is an innovative program of the federal government that brings together researchers, industry, and government working in partnership to provide social and economic benefits for all Canadians.
PrioNet's pan-Canadian network of research excellence includes over 90 diverse scientific members and numerous international collaborators, along with students, and young professionals working in partnership with government, non-government organizations, and industry partners. PrioNet funds multidisciplinary research, provides training and network opportunities, facilitates the transfer of research results to commercial uses, and promotes knowledge exchange.
PrioNet is hosted by the University of British Columbia and Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
