Platform Facilities
PrioNet provides access for all Full Scientific Members to four platform facilities. Please note that usage requests are reviewed for approval by PrioNet's Research Management Committee.
Animal Models and Transgenesis
- For targeted transgenic and knockout mice for biological studies relevant to prion diseases.
- Housed at the University of Alberta.
- Information regarding transgenic mouse experiments can be obtained from Dr. David Westaway (780-492-9368).
Chronic Wasting Disease Tissue Bank
- Access to retained and catalogued materials from the Saskatchewan CWD surveillance program (Trent Bollinger).
- Housed at the University of Saskatchewan.
- Information on tissue materials can be obtained from Dr. Trent Bollinger (306-966-5153)
Pathogenesis and Bioassay
- For experimentally inoculated rodents.
- Housed at the University of British Columbia (Principal Investigator: Neil Cashman).
- Information for sample submission and results can be obtained from Lisa Bertram, Research Coordinator - Cashman Lab (604-827-3310).
