Training Programs
PrioNet has various training programs for its Full and Associate Scientific Members and PrioNet or Independent Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) outlined in the table below. HQP accounts for graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, as well as technicians and research assistants/associates.
The next deadline for PrioNet Training Programs for review by PrioNet's Education Committee is September 15th, 2010.

|
Supports junior/senior university researchers for up to six-month periods.

International Training and Travel Program

Covers the cost of travel and lodging of applicant to participate in an international research team in the EU, USA, or the Pacific Rim for up to a one-year period.

North American Training and Travel Program

Supports the travel and out-of-pocket expenses of the training visit. Eligible uses of funds include travel costs between parent and destination laboratories or research groups, room and board.

Bioinformatics Workshops

Provides funding to attend bioinformatics training presented by the Canadian Bioinformatics Workshops and Genome Canada.

Banff Centre Science Communications Program
August 6-22 (Banff) |
Two-week immersive residency program in scientific communications held every August at the Banff Centre.

Other Programs or Events Other professional development opportunities are available on an on-going basis. For example, training workshops are held at PrioNet’s annual conference, annual Student and Young Professional Association (SYPA) Day, and at local meetings according to demand. Topics have included communications, project management, intellectual property, networking, best practices, etc. Please see the Calendar of Events for details on these programs.
